Milk processing unit
UNILEITE – União das Cooperativas Agrícolas de Lacticínios da Ilha de São Miguel UCRL, was founded in 1954. Its main objective was to create a milk processing unit, which would guarantee a greater union of producers to face the challenges of the market.
During these almost 70 years of activity, UNILEITE went through difficult times during the crisis of Lavoura Micaelense, but today, it is an organization that is found in the largest of the Azores, playing a very important role in the regional economy.
Located in the largest dairy basin in the Azores
focused on taking advantage of the conditions of excellence that the Azorean nature offers and with the experience of years accumulated in the dairy sector, the milk produced by UNILEITE is unique and of excellent quality, since it gives entry in the production lines practically after the milking of the cows that graze freely in the São Miguel pastures.
UNILEITE is dedicated to the production of milk, “flamengo” cheese, island cheese and butter, holding the brands Nova Açores Pastagem, São Miguel, Famoso, Unileite and Mic Mac.
