From the best that the Island of São Jorge has to offer, we have created for centuries a distinct matured cheese, with a hard paste, a drier cheese.
The São Jorge PDO Cheese Aged 24 months is a strong, clean and slightly spicy product obtained from raw cow's milk, salt and rennet. Because of these characteristics, it is perfect to compose a cheese board and accompany with a liqueur wine or with a younger port wine.

São Jorge Cheese PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) is one of the best known products in Portugal and its history merges with the history of the island itself. Legend has it that the beginning of cheese production dates back to the mid-century. XV. Its production was started by people of Flemish origin, experienced producers of foodstuffs such as meat, milk and its derivatives.
Over the years, traditional production methods were passed from generation to generation, maintaining the specific characteristics that the climate and vegetation of the island's pastures determine through the raw milk used, in such a way that the product was distinguished and certified with the status of DOP.
