The Ilha Azul butter, originally from the island of Faial, is a butter with intense flavour and rich texture, produced from fresh pasteurized cream.
Its traditional manufacturing process contributes to make this butter so special.

Already in the century. XVI, Gaspar Frutuoso, Azorean historian, priest and humanist, referred in his chronicles that “…the milk is very thick and thus makes a lot of butter, and nowhere do they give more cows…”.
Its characteristic colour and aroma come from pastures, rich in beta-carotenes, on which the cows feed freely.
